March as National Nutrition Month is a Reminder to Eat Right

Dear valuable community,

As a Registered Dietitian, I always say to each of my patients and client that “Food is Joy and has Transformative Power. How do we balance that?

I see people at 2 extreme ends. Some, who are not paying attention what they eat and some of them are overly thinking food and eat very restrictive.

They both need to shift their mindset and balance both joy and power with food.

Here are 3 humble reminders……

1- As we embrace National Nutrition Month, it’s an opportune time to reflect on the significance of wholesome eating habits in enhancing our overall well-being. Nourishing our bodies with nutrient-rich foods not only fuels us with the energy we need to tackle daily challenges but also plays a pivotal role in preventing chronic diseases and promoting longevity. By prioritizing a balanced meals filled with a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, we empower ourselves to make informed choices that contribute to our long-term health goals.

2- March served as a reminder that small changes in our dietary patterns can yield substantial benefits. Whether it’s swapping sugary beverages for water, incorporating more plant-based meals into our weekly menu, or opting for whole grain alternatives, every decision counts towards fostering a healthier lifestyle. Additionally, cultivating mindful eating practices such as savoring each bite, listening to our body’s hunger and fullness cues, and practicing moderation can help us develop a positive relationship with food and cultivate a sustainable approach to nutrition

3- Let’s seize the momentum of National Nutrition Month to embark on a journey towards improved health and vitality. By harnessing the power of education, experimentation, and perseverance, we can pave the way for lasting dietary habits that nourish both body and mind. Let’s celebrate the abundance of nutritious foods available to us and embrace the opportunity to prioritize self-care through mindful eating. Together, let’s make this month – and every month thereafter – a testament to the transformative impact of wholesome nutrition on our lives.

Keeping the theme of Nation Nutrition Month 2024 “Beyond the Table” in mind, I encourage all to…
