Celebrating National Nutrition Month!

March is National Nutrition Month!

This year theme is “Personalize Your Plate” and I so loved this theme. After all food is personal thing. Eating is a lifestyle. We need to eat and enjoy food within our own ethnic preferences!

My simple tips:

  • Eat what you like
  • Eat when you are hungry
  • Stop when you are full.
  • Above all, Enjoy your meals and never fear any food.

Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics did fantastic job in creating educational Toolkit in multiple languages.

I was honored to translate it in a Hindi along with my 2 sisterly friends Mudita Arora MSc, MS, RDN and Shraddha Chaubey MS, RDN, LDN. There are wide variety of topics and they are free for consumers. You can access Individual Toolkit Files here.

Use it, share it. Knowledge is power!

National Nutrition Month is very close to my heart and I have been doing a lot of in person talks to children and adults in both in person and virtual format!

Sharing some glimpse which are close to my heart

few years back during NNM, visited first grade classroom and had nutrition conversation with 60 plus first graders!
Overwhelmed with joy after receiving 60 plus personal letters from children!

2021 National Nutrition Month was different as I couldn’t plan anything in person due to Covid:19 Public Health Emergency. I truly feel we became more tech savvy.

Some of the glimpse from March 2021.

We hosted a virtual talk “Let’s talk Menopause in collaboration with Dr. Gunjan Bhatnagar MD OB/Gyn- what an interactive session, we went over by an hour.

Presented to our seniors “Personalize Your Plate to be in a happy State” on 3/12/21.

I like to ignite grassroots advocacy in me and I go to local government for proclamation. I am thankful to Mayer Farrah Khan and council members to proclaim March 2021 as National Nutrition month in the City of Irvine CA.

My Rockstar mentor from NY  Rita Batheja MS, RDN, CDN always says “A picture is worth 1000 words” so I close words here and let the pictures speak
